But In Those Days

The old pastor made it a practice to visit the church’s Christian school one day a week. He walked into the fourth-grade class, where the children were studying the states, and asked them how many states they could name.

Four Best Places to Live

Hey everyone and we are still social distancing and yes COVID-19 pandemic is still with us.  How is everyone feeling?  Are you ready for this to be over already?  I sure am!

This Sunday our service will be Online again on Facebook Live.  This Sunday I would like to start a new sermon series, “Four Best Places to Live.”  Where does the Bible say we should dwell?  We’re going to look at the Four Best Places to Live according to God and Scripture. The criteria are these:

No Dogs Allowed

There’s a guy with a Doberman pinscher and a guy with a Chihuahua.  The guy with the Doberman pinscher says to the guy with the Chihuahua, “Let’s go over to the restaurant and get something to eat.”

The guy with the Chihuahua says, “We can’t go in there.  We’ve got dogs with us.”

The guy with the Doberman pinscher says, “Just follow my lead.”

They walk over to the restaurant, the guy with the Doberman pinscher puts on a pair of dark glasses, and he starts to walk in.  A guy at the door says, “Sorry, Mac, no pets allowed.”

Christ Is Risen

Christ is risen!  This proclamation isn’t just an event that we celebrate on Easter Sunday.  It is our Christian battle cry!

Christ is risen!  Notice the present tense is.  This isn’t an event in the past.  It is an ever-present happening that fuels our living and vibrant faith!  Christ is alive and working through you and me!  Christ is!  Right now!  Hallelujah!

Update

We hope and pray that you all are being safe and that everyone is in good health. Due to the recommendations by the CDC and the local authorities, we regret to inform you that the physical church facility will remain closed for at least until April 30. We will, however, continue to hold worship services and other events and classes online on Facebook. [Also working on another possibly way so more people can tune in.]

Beaux Tate

My dog, Beaux Tate, was in the back window of our house and he saw a rabbit and he is barking.  He kept his eye on that rabbit and when I let him out into the backyard, he continued to look for that rabbit that had long ran away.  But that did not deter him, he just kept looking in that direction and barking.

How Are Your Children

Two friends who hadn’t seen each other in years met in a supermarket.  One woman asked, “Tell me Ruth, how is your son George?”

“He’s getting along fine,” Ruth replied.  “He’s a poet.  He just received his master’s degree in literature from the university.”

“And what about Mary?”

“She’s just as smart as George,” Ruth replied.  “She graduated from college with a degree in modern art.”

Shark Fishing

A priest was walking along the cliffs at Dover when he came upon two locals pulling another man ashore on the end of a rope.  “That’s what I like to see,” said the priest, “a man helping his fellow man.”

As he was walking away, one local remarked to the other, “Well, he sure doesn’t know the first thing about shark fishing.”
