I Didn’t Think You Could Do That?

Two men were talking together. The first challenged the other, “If you are so religious, let’s hear you quote the Lord’s Prayer. I bet you $10.00 you can’t.”

The second responded, “Now I lay my down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. And If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.”

The first pulled out his wallet and fished out a ten dollar bill, muttering, “I didn’t think you could do it!”

Prayer is so vital to the Christian life but so few of us take advantage of this priviledge and very little we know about this subject.  We spent the month of July talking about “Praying and Seeking.”  We started off by looking at the prayer of Hannah (desire in prayer) and then took a look at the Disciple’s Prayer (the proper way to pray, what most of would recognize as the Lord’s Prayer).  We concluded our series by taking the challenge to step out into the deep water.  We looked at several ways to grow deeper.  One of those ways was to work on our prayer life.  We were challenged to spend time in our 12 hour prayer vigil for VBS.
I would like to challenge you during the month of August to pray for our students, teachers, and administrations of our area schools.  I would also like to invite you to come out on August 13, 2016 at 8 a.m. for the Orangefield ISD Prayer Walk.  We will begin on the football field at 8 a.m. and then walk the Orangefield campuses and pray.  There will be resting stations and signs along the way to help you.  We will conclude the walk at 10 a.m. with a short worship time before dismissing.

Let’s all join together and make 2016-2017 the best year for our students and the ministry we have with our schools.  I hope to hear your prayer stories and the great impact your prayers are having.

We are also going to begin a brand new sermon series on August 7th entitled “Developing a Daring Faith.”  We will be looking at the book of Daniel and see how we can live a daring life.  Invite a friend and come join us.  I hope to see you on Sunday!
